Butter and Salt
Fhior Restaurant, Edinburgh

I feel pretty lucky that within 45 mins, I can be in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I absolutely love our wee tradition of heading over to Edinburgh for a relaxed, late Saturday lunch. Whilst it’s always great to try new places, but we find it difficult to resist returning to Fhior.

This is a wee painting I did of the irrisistible quenelle of Scottish butter and rock salt they serve with a warm hunk of freshly baked bread.

I loved the satisfying contrast of colour and texture from that pale, smooth butter to the sharp, jaggy crystals against the dark slate plate.
